TLC Wyatt Earp, CD, SchH3, IPO3, FFB, WAC, CGC

Wyatt is a special guy for whom I waited a very long time. He was whelped on April 25, 2000. I purchased him as a 9-week old puppy from breeder Rose Kruser. My husband, 7-year old son, and I drove on July 4th weekend, 2000, from North Carolina to New Jersey to look at Wyatt and decide whether to bring him home. We took our two older dogs, Austin, a 9 1/2 year old intact male Doberman, and Mateese, an 8 1/2 year old spayed Border Collie bitch with us. From the beginning, Wyatt has shown a remarkable ability to adapt to new situations. Even though he had never encountered any dogs other than his mom, his aunt and his littermates, he quickly decided that Austin and Mateese were "OTAY"!

On our 9-hour trip back from New Jersey, he quickly adapted to the rhythm of driving and potty breaks, happily hopping in and out of the car along with the two older dogs (who were, of course, quite sure that this had to be a mistake!). He cried only a little in his crate the first night in our home, and he and Austin soon became the best of friends. Although Wyatt was beginning to challenge Austin for the top male position toward the end of Austin's life, they were still great pals when Austin died on March 2, 2002.

My son Blake also fell in love with Wyatt very quickly. Wyatt has always been a fun dog, with lots of energy for frisbee catching and retrieving balls. Here Blake and Wyatt are sharing a quiet time before breakfast on our first day as Wyatt's new family ...

With Wyatt, I am on my way to realizing a long time dream of owning a high-quality working Doberman with good looks to match. Wyatt is a compact male with excellent bone and substance. He stands 27" and weighs around 88 pounds in working weight. He is OFA Good (DP-10401G27M-PI), CERF (DP-1484/2002--25), and VWD Clear (Genesearch 6170). He was found Cardio normal on May 9, 2002.

I have enjoyed watching Wyatt mature into a confident male Doberman. Training progress has been slow, not because of Wyatt's abilities, but simply because of family obligations and time constraints. The picture below shows Wyatt performing his very first hold and bark in the blind.
